The Golden Gate bridge is one of the most famous and beautiful bridges in the world because of its spectacular location, graceful lines, Art Deco detailing, and emblematic color. With towers extending 746 feet (227.4 m) into the sky, over 100 feet (30 m) beneath the bay and with the length of 8,981 feet (2.7 km), the bridge is also an engineering marvel. The Bridge first opened in 1937 and is perhaps San Francisco’s most recognized landmark.
The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate strait and connects San Francisco to California's northern counties. Visitors can hike, walk, bike, shop, take a guided tour, or just sit back and take in the views of city's skyline.
